The Proper Way to Organize Your Kitchen Area
Have you struggled to find your containers? Or is your kitchen utensil missing again? We do understand that our kitchen is a heavy-duty area, that’s why sometimes it’s messy which is unavoidable. And yes, you don’t need an enormous space for your kitchen to be well organized, it’s more about how you properly organize the essential things inside the kitchen. All you need is a helpful and easy tip for your kitchen and here are recommendations for you to have an organized and functional kitchen.
1. Do an Extreme Cleaning
Organizing your things is not complete without cleaning your area. Before everything else, do a deep cleaning in every area of your kitchen. Pull out all the kitchen tools and containers first because it’s easy to start in a blank spot, so you will know how you can arrange everything in your kitchen next. It’s also easy to wipe all the area that needs to be cleaned and after that, you’ll love how clean your kitchen is.
2. Create Labels
You know when your things at home are well organized if they have a label on them. The advantage of having a label on the container of your condiments and other ingredients you use in cooking is that you can find them instantly. It will also reduce confusion for you because some condiments have the same appearance, but have different tastes.
3. Create an Assigned Area
Once you’re done cleaning and putting labels, create a plan where you’re going to place them for a long period of time. First is your cooking area in the kitchen, place all your cooking items where you can easily access them when you cook. If there’s a storage above, below, or at the sides of your stove, place in there your pots and pans. While your knives, spatulas, and cutting board beside your stove.
Next are your spices, condiments, and other kitchen tools that you don’t usually use. Place them in your pantry. Keep in mind as well that you don’t need to have a separate room for your pantry because it can just be hanging shelves. And if it is a hanging shelf, you can place them near your stove, so you can get your spices and other ingredients easily. The third is the sink, place the dish drainer near the sink and beneath the sink are your cleaning supplies for your home. Cabinet for plates, bowls, glasses, and utensils should at least be placed near the sink, so you can place them back inside once they have been dried from washing. Lastly is the storage area. See to it that you designate a storage area where you keep your containers, zip locks, foils, food wraps, etc., and if possible place them near the refrigerator.
4. Place Your Kitchen Essentials Properly
After placing all your kitchen items and other supplies in their right area, you should also arrange them in the right position. For everyday use, especially your kitchen utensils and spices, pllace them on your eye level where you can reach them easily without tipping your toes. Your pots, pans, spices, and condiments should be in your eye level. The ones that you often use should be placed in front and the ones that you rarely use can be placed at the back part.
5. Protect Your Kitchen Tools and Gadgets
Don’t forget to protect your kitchen tools and gadgets when you place them back in their respective areas. Use a piece of a non-adhesive sheet at the bottom of the drawer or cabinet. This will prevent them from slipping or sliding when you open your storage. Remember that even if they’re built to be durable, you still need to use these sheets as a cushion for them to maintain their appearance.
