How to Turn Your Living Room into a Mini-Theater
Streaming services are dominating the entertainment industry by storm. Many companies are starting to adopt this new medium, and for us, movie nights are even getting better. Since most of us own a smart TV at home, why not spice up your living room? There will be no need for you to go out of your home when you can turn your living room into a mini-theater. All you need is a good movie and a cozy surrounding.
That being said, here is a list of how you can turn your living room into a mini-theater. Let’s begin!
1. Place your TV Properly
The smart TV and a good sound system are the main attractions and probably the highlights of any home theater. What good would a movie bonding be without them, right?
You can make it better by hanging your TV on the wall, while other devices, such as remotes and speakers can be placed on a console or stand. You don’t have to worry about the size of the speakers because they don’t usually take up too much space. Book-sized speakers can be placed on the surface of the TV stand, and long speakers can be placed them on the side of the television. Again, worry not about the size because long speakers are usually thin and are not that bulky. Finally, make it even more like a real theater by adding blackout curtains for accent and style.
2. Get a Seat that is Cozy
Make yourself even more comfortable when watching movies at home! Invest in couches, sectional sofa, and recliners. These seats are a good replica of theater seats, like our Sedrick Recliner. There are also some sofas and couches that are multi-functional, wherein you can place your drink on them, as well as the remote controller. To complete the look of your mini-theater, place a rug/carpet under your seats, and make it extra by choosing a high-pile rug that adds a layer of seating.
3. Gather All Your Snacks and Refreshments
What’s another way to spice up your movie marathon? Of course, it’s the snacks and refreshments! A good tip is to gather up all of your snacks and drinks before the movie starts. Instead of eating the chips straight from the bag, you can put them in a bowl. That way, it will be easier to get and eat them, and you can just refill the bowl once the chips have been consumed. If you’re feeling a little bit fancy, add a mini-fridge for the drinks in your living room, but if you want it to be more budget-friendly, you can just put the drinks in an ice bucket. To avoid any litter from your snacks and drinks, invest in having a center table that’s 2 inches lower from your sofa, or have a movable table, where it can hold your drinks and snacks, like our Talbot side table.
4. Choose the Right Lights
For more authentic theater experience at home, you have to choose the right lights. We usually ignore the lighting, except when the movie is done then the lights will open. But take note that this is also important if you want to achieve that mini-theater look for your living room. Choose lights that produce and adjust from soft white to warm white tones that mimic the lighting from the cinema. It’s good to have blackout curtains when you open the lights during movie nights. You don’t need to adjust the lighting if you already have blackout curtains because they already help give light accents in the room.
Add more to your mini-theater theme by hanging a movie poster on your wall, it can be a classic film, or movies in the 21st century. Lastly, complete your mini-theater experience at home by enjoying it with family, friends, or even just by yourself after a long day at work.
