6 Ways to Turn Your Patio into a Resort-like Area in Your House
Summer is almost here and some of us probably already planned their summer vacation trip. While most of us want to go on a vacation to avoid a stressful and exhausting environment this hot season. During peak seasons, it gets quite harder to book a resort or a hotel for vacation. But who says we can only have our summer vacation out of town or out of the country? Have you tried to consider being just in the comforts of your own home? Well, why not turn your patio into a resort-like area in your house?
Even if you’re still planning to go on a vacation or just got back from your dream vacation, you can still try to recreate that experience on your patio or backyard with these simple steps:
1. Set-up a Dining Table and Mobile Bar
Set a dining table at your patio, like our Dea dining set, and decorate your dining table with tropical flowers, like hibiscus. Feel the vibe of being on a nearby beach while having dinner in this kind of set-up.
Your resort experience will not be complete without the food, especially the delicacies during summer. Setting up a barbeque party at your patio is also a good idea to liven up the place and feel that summer season setting in as you bond over food.
Adding a mobile bar would especially be perfect if you have guests because you can stock and serve different kinds of drinks. Don’t forget to include water glasses or cups as you stock-up and prepare your mobile bar. And if you’re feeling a little bit fancy, add a variety of snacks in the bar that you and your guests can munch on.

2. Hang a Hammock
Another way to have that resort-like feel is by hanging a hammock in your patio. Choose a great spot where you can hang your hammock. Hang your hammock where the sun doesn’t hit too hard, and make sure that the hammock has something soft to land on, like grass. You can hang the hammock between trees, but if you don’t have trees surrounding your patio, you can hang them between posts or poles. Once you hang your hammock, you can take a nap, read a book, or just hang out with your family and friends.
3. Invest in an Activity Area
Add an inflated pool on your patio and a decorative umbrella for a standard poolside style. Make sure you don’t hog too much space, so you can still do other fun summer activities. Having enough space allows you to play with water guns, enjoy water slides, etc. But if you’re not into those kinds of activities, you can always play board games for fun.
4. Get Tropical Plants
Try incorporating your patio with tropical plants that will complete the look for your resort. Don’t just focus on the green ones, try adding flowers with bright colors like anthurium plant. Another tip is to add large pots on your patio that will resemble the resort-style and resort-like feel you’ve been looking for. When choosing the color of the pots, it will depend on the theme of your patio. But the best colors for your pots are white, gray, and khaki.
5. Place a Lighting
Enjoy the night at your patio by adding lights everywhere from the walkways to your poolside. We also suggest using soft lights that will give a luxurious look to your backyard. And for an instagrammable patio, add fairy lights, hanging lights, lanterns, etc. on the trees or your bushes. This will give a warm, bright, and cozy feel to your resort-like patio.
6. Put a Water Feature
Providing water features, such as fountains and sprinkles, make our mind and body feel relaxed, whether you’re just dipping in the pool or just listening to the sound of it. The good thing about having a water feature at home is you can feel relaxed everyday, as if you are always out of town.
Nothing beats having a staycation because everything you need is already in the comforts of your own home. And once you achieve this style, you can invite your friends and have a summer party all night.
