9 Tips to Make Your Guest Feel Welcome in Your Home
Every year, we do a lot of celebrations from birthdays to Christmas, and when we celebrate this, we usually stay with our relatives. But what if it’s your time to host a party? It’s normal to feel pressure when hosting a party, especially if your guests are going to stay over at your place. After all, your goal is to make your guests comfortable inside your home. So if you want to prepare for this, you’re going to exert a lot of effort because there will be a lot of cleaning and arranging.
Without further ado, here are the 9 tips that will help make your guests comfortable at your home.
1. Prepare Early
Before your guests come to your house, make sure that the whole place is spotless. You have to consider cleaning the area you normally ignore because the goal is to make the house sparkling clean. The most important part of the house that you need to clean is the bathroom. Scrub the wall and floor thoroughly and prepare an additional soap, toilet paper, and towels just in case they are staying overnight.
If you still need to go to the grocery to buy important things, we suggest you do this stuff first, so that you wouldn’t have to think about rushing and going out of the house.
2. Declutter
Declutter unnecessary things in your home as much as you can. Having too much decoration, furniture, or any other things are painful to the eyes. This will not only make the place look crowded, but it will also be uncomfortable, especially for your guests. Start removing the things which you think are not important, and after removing them, your house will look more spacious and your guests will feel comfortable.
3. Make the Room Refreshing
Making your home clean is not enough, so you have to make sure your home smells refreshing. Use air freshener or essential oil in your home, or you can opt to add fresh flowers instead.
4. Plan for the Meals
Plan ahead and start counting on how many guests are going to your house and how many meals you would need to serve. Make a list of food and drinks that you’ll be needing for your guests. Make sure the meal you’re going to prepare can be served on breakfast till dinner. If you’re having plenty of guests at your house, buy additional foods from the restaurant to save you more time. You can also go along with your guests when they ask you what food they should bring when they come to your home.
5. Serve Them Drinks
Once your guests arrive at your home, you can serve them drinks, like coffee or juice. Offering drinks to your guests is a small act of hospitality to them. It also helps them relieve the stress from the traffic. Having a drink with them is a great way to start a conversation by asking how they have been and what they have been up to nowadays.
6. Provide a Room for Their Belongings
Expect that your guests will bring additional luggage when they come to your home. You don’t want your guests’ belongings gone missing, that’s why it’s better to provide a room for them. If you don’t have a spare room, make sure to leave a safe spot in your house where they can place their valuable things and easily reach them.
7. Offer Your Bed or Sofabed
If your home doesn’t provide a guest room, try offering your room for a night. Your guests might decline your offer or accept the offer, but all in all your effort is appreciated. Another way to make your guests comfortable is to offer them your sofa bed, like our Sperry sofa bed. Prepare extra pillows, blankets, and sheets for your guests.
8. Provide Essentials for the Guests
To be a great host, you must be prepared at all times, so that you can easily provide for your guests in case they forget something. Provide extra towels, shampoo sachets, and a bar of soap in your bathroom. You can also offer them extra slippers, so their feet would feel relaxed after a long travel to get in your place.
9. Enjoy the Moment
Everything doesn’t need to be perfect. Your role is just to make them feel welcomed. Don’t stress yourself out too much because it might ruin your bonding moments with your guests. It’s true that it is not easy to be a host, but if you feel more relaxed than exhausted, your moments together will be more enjoyable.
